Triton - Single screw tanker with bow thrusters.

In a previous life I was a deck officer on tankers in the merchant navy; http://www.tonyholt.net gives details on this and probably explains why I decided to build an oil tanker. The tanker is based on a heavily modified Model Slipway 10 hatch coaster, with 2 bow thrusters, revised deck and cranes.

Comments, observations and details on building Triton.

With the above in mind on 13th October I phoned Westbourne Models to check availability on all the base components I'd need, before driving down on 14th October to pick them up. I've bought a lot of 'kit' from Westbourne models over the last year and their Mail Order is excellent, but I'd always wanted to visit the shop, and this initial 'larger spend' seemed the ideal opportunity.

The accompanying pages (on the left) give a timeline for all the main operations, along with pictures and dialogues for significant processes.

The model is (loosely!) based around 2 new tankers from Everards. These are Summity and Asperity. The full specifications for these vessels are included in the following PDF. If you have broadband this is great otherwise you'll have to sit back for 3 minutes. Click on the following link to see the details SUMMITY TECH SPEC PDF.
